UPTET 2019 postponed for indefinite period due to internet ban

LUCKNOW: Uttar Pradesh-teachers’ eligibility test (UP-TET), 2019, scheduled on December 22 has been postponed for an indefinite period due to internet ban and disturbances following agitation against Citizen Amendment Act (CAA) in several parts of the state. A record number of 16.34 lakh candidates have registered for appearing in the exams.

Director General, school education, Vijay Kiran Anand said, “There were reports that candidates were not able to download the admit card due to internet ban so the eligibility test has been postponed. No new date has been fixed.”

Allahabad-based examination regulatory authority (ERA) holds the qualifying exam for recruiting teachers in government primary and upper primary schools. The candidates registered for taking the primary test are eligible for teaching in the state government-run schools up to class V. Those appearing to teach in upper-primary schools could teach from VI to VIII.
